Voice Compatibility

VX-323 supports Mac OS X Speech Manager voices. In additional to Apple, there are several third party companies that create these voices. Because each company (and often each voice) has different capabilities, some features may or may not be supported. Please check this list before purchasing voices to use with VX-323.

  • Apple All Apple voices are supported. Several voices ignore phonetic pitch settings. In Mac OS X 10.4, all audio processing funcions work with Apple voices.
  • Cepstral Mostly supported, but some features disabled. Licensed Cepstral Voices appear in the VOICE > VOICE SELECT menu. Cepstral voices do not support phonetic input. Some audio processing features, such as panning and volume envelopes, are not supported for Cepstral voices. Visit the Cepstral Web Site
  • Infovox iVox Presently not supported. For more information, visit Infovox Web Site.

If you manufacture voices and wish to make them compatible with VX-323, Bitnotic would be interested in hearing from you. If you are an end-user and want certain voices to work with VX-323, please contact both Bitnotic and the manufacturer of the voice.

SoundFont 2 Banks

VX-323 can save instruments as SoundFont 2 banks, for use with EXS24, DLSMusicDevice, and many other samplers on Mac, Windows, and even hardware units. The trial version of VX-323 does not allow you to save these files. However, you can download two test files from here if you want to test them with your sampler.
